Sassafras albidum

Foraged from the woodlands at Brightside, spicy-sweet sassafras root bark makes a tasty, root beer-flavored tea enjoyed by generations of Americans as a naturally delicious treat. Traditionally used as spring tonic, blood purifier, and treatment for rheumatism and arthritis.

Take a walk down memory lane with a cup of West Virginia Wildgrown sassafras tea in the palm of your hand. Wonderful hot or cold.

Precaution: Since sassafras root contains trace amounts of safrole, a toxic chemical large doses of which have been shown to cause cancer in lab animals, prolonged or excessive use of sassafras is not recommended. Not for use while pregnant or nursing.

Directions: Place a measuring teaspoon of tea in a tea strainer or loose in a 12-ounce cup. Add boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Makes approximately 30 cups of tea.

Packaged in classic recycled aluminum tins.

Net weight 3 ounces.
